Athlete Profile

In 2015, Layne Morgan's rugby journey began as an Australian rugby union player with her debut in a 7s tournament, the NSW Youth Championships. This ignited her love for rugby union, despite limited opportunities for young female athletes in her area at the time.

The following year, in 2016, Layne's venture into representative rugby commenced, starting with her inclusion in a wider squad recognised from the tournament. This eventually led to her participation in the official Women's Blue Bells team, both at the youth and senior levels, despite her tender age of 16.

From there, Layne embarked on a series of rugby adventures, representing in national and international tournaments across various destinations, including Dubai, Amsterdam, Africa, and Australia, between 2017 and 2019. These experiences were pivotal in Layne's rugby career, shaping her into the player she is today. Despite facing challenges, such as the impact of COVID-19 on the game, Layne continued to excel, winning championships and competing at the highest levels. She remains committed to the sport and looks forward to future opportunities to represent her team and country.

Currently, Layne plays in the scrum-half position for the Australian national team and the NSW Waratahs in the Super W competition. She represented the Australian Wallaroos at the 2021 Rugby World Cup and still dominates the field to this day.
